Fad Diets
What is a Fad Diet?
Fad diets promise quick and easy weight loss, however, these diets are often very restrictive and lack essential nutritents and the temporary success is often unsustainable.
Current Popular Fad Diets:
- Ketogenic (keto)
- Atkins
- South Beach
Pros vs. Cons
Pros
- Weight loss
- Reduce hunger

- Hard to stick to
- Adjusting may be difficult
- Lack of fiber and other nutritents
A better option…
A balanced diet. What does that look like:
Fruits: apples, oranges, berries, pears, bananas
Vegetables: broccoli, green beans, carrots, cauliflower, red peppers, spinach

Grains: whole grain bread, rice tortillas
Protein: meat, fish, beans, eggs
Dairy: milk, yogurt, cheese
