The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC)

 

What is WIC?

A nutrition program that supports you and your child with health care referrals, nutrition education, and access to healthy food during pregnancy, birth, and up to five years old.

Who can apply?

  • Pregnant women, breastfeeding women, women who have had a baby in the last 6 months.
  • Parents, step-parents, guardians, and foster parents of infants and children who are younger than 5.
  • You must live in Texas. You do not need to be a US citizen.
  • Must make under a certain monthly income. If you are on Medicaid, TANF, or SNAP, you meet the income eligibility.

Monthly Healthy Food Packages

WIC gives you monthly food allowance to buy healthy food.

You will use a WIC guard to buy approved foods at the grocery store.
